Preparing for Service

HEAT TREATMENT PREP LIST

Resident Must Remove from Heating Area

  • All Plants & Pets (including Fish)
  • Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, Chocolate, Carbonated Beverages, Wines & Liquors
  • Candles, Wax, Crayons, Lipstick and other Cosmetics
  • All Medicines & Vitamins
  • Arts & Crafts that are assembled with hot glue
  • Computer Software, Vinyl Records, CD’s, Audio & Video Tapes
  • Oxygen Tanks, Aerosol Containers, Fire Extinguishers, Cigarette Lighters & other combustible items
  • Musical Instruments (may de-tune due to contraction and expansion)
  • Magnets (including fridge magnets)
  • Oil Paintings, Acrylic Artwork
  • Family Heirlooms

Other Important Preparations

  • Bedroom Closets should be free of clutter (including closet shelf)
  • Computers, TV’s, Stereos, Home Theatre Systems and Clocks should be unplugged (except oven, fridge and freezer)
  • Hung Clothes should be spread apart to allow heat penetration. 
  • Stacks of clothes in dresser drawers and closet shelves should be reduced to no more than 3″ in depth. (bag in plastic garbage bags, tie and move to laundry area – dry at high heat for 30 minutes before replacing)
  • Plastic or Vinyl Blinds should be pulled tight, removed and placed on floor to avoid warping
  • Excess piles of paper & magazines must be disposed of.
  • Pictures hung with Velcro or adhesive hooks should be removed from the wall as the glue will soften and let go.

**Clutter must be eliminated in order to ensure a successful treatment**

Note: Most items can be safely stored inside your oven, freezer and refrigerator. Bathrooms may also be used for storage as they are generally not heated. Residents will not have access to their home until completion of the treatment.
