The Cost of Bed Bug Extermination
When Bed Bug Infestations show up in a residence, the occupants usually want them gone quickly and for the lowest cost possible. The two primary methods of eradication are Structural Heat and Pesticide Application. Heat is quick with a much higher success rate but more expensive. Pesticide Application is less expensive but the process is lengthy and the preparation for treatment is time consuming.
Customers will often choose the less expensive Pesticide Application as the initial price difference can seem large but I can tell you the difference is a lot less than it appears and here is why;
Pesticide Application – Bed Bugs are becoming increasingly resistant to the insecticides currently on the market. The standard treatment protocol is two treatments 10-14 days apart but because of pesticide resistance it is not uncommon for eradication to take 3 or more applications for success. Aside from the disruption of laundering all fabrics and clothing plus vacating your house for the day, you will often get an invoice for each treatment.
Professional Heat Treatment – ‘Your first cost is your best cost’ often applies to Bed Bug Elimination as we frequently get calls from customers that have given up on Pesticides after spending $500 – $800 and not getting results when it may have only cost them $800 – $900 in the first place to Heat Treat the space. Heat also has a lot less prep and disruption and will save your furniture.
